MUMFEST BANNER SALES
       FUNDRAISER FOR NEW BERN ROTARY

The Rotary Club of New Bern and Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation are working together again this year in support of the Rotary Club’s community service projects.

Area businesses may show their support by sponsoring a MUMFEST banner, which will have their company’s name displayed on both sides of the banner for only $160. The banners, made of vinyl and measuring 22” x 37” are hung from downtown streetlights for approximately six weeks beginning in mid-September. After MUMFEST the banners become the property of the sponsor to display in their business.

The Rotary Club of New Bern through its fundraising efforts supports many community service projects each year, such as awarding college scholarships and making sizable grants to the Salvation Army, RCS, Merci Clinic, YMCA, Creekside Park and Habitat for Humanity.

Because the opportunity to sponsor a banner ends July 30, 2014, area businesses should email Sandra McKinney sandramckinney@suddenlink.net  or call Swiss Bear (252.638.5781). Banner applications may also be downloaded at www.mumfest.com by clicking on the banner-merchandising button near the top of the homepage.

Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corporation produces MUMFEST, a City sponsored event with the support of area businesses and organizations.  Title Sponsor: Joe Alcoke Auto and Truck Center.

Festival proceeds help fund MUMFEST expenses and downtown revitalization projects.  MUMFEST draws an estimated 100,000 visitors to New Bern's historic downtown.

Mumfest banners support festival

Sponsorship also contributes to Rotary charitable service projects. Sun Journal - June 4, 2013

The Rotary Club of New Bern and Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corp. are again teaming to provide Mumfest banners for the October festival, which will also support of the Rotary Club’s community service projects.

Susan Moffat-Thomas, executive director of Swiss Bear, said banners have been a part of the festival since the mid-1990s when the event was just on Middle Street. Today, it encompasses the downtown district and waterfront each year.

Initially the banners were a business sponsorship of the festival, she said.
“We began a partnership with Rotary two or three years afterward when we saw it was good way to offer a partnership with a nonprofit so they could use the funds for projects,” Moffat-Thomas said.

“It is a great partnership, and we do another with the Lions Club, where they sell the carbonated beverages and raise funds for those that have sight impairment. Anywhere we can work out something that will help, we try to do that.”

The banners are an extension of the annual Mumfest poster design, which has been the work of artist Lisa Bisbee for the past three years.

Area businesses can show their support by sponsoring a Mumfest banner, which will have the company’s name displayed on both sides. The cost is $160. The banners are made of vinyl and measure 22-by-37-inches. They are hung from the banner arms of downtown streetlights for about six weeks, beginning in mid-September. The banners then become the property of the sponsor to display in their business.

The Rotary Club of New Bern uses money from the sale of Mumfest banners and other fundraisers throughout the year to support community service projects such as awarding college scholarships and making sizable grants to many community service organizations such as the Salvation Army, Religious Community Services, MERCI Clinic, Twin Rivers YMCA, Creekside Park and Habitat for Humanity.
The banner opportunity is open through July 30.

MUMFEST Banners - A Blaze of Color and Festivity on the Downtown Streets

We are thrilled over 165 businesses supported the Noon Rotary Club’s Mumfest banner project by sponsoring a banner.

The banners, now in production by Bender Apparel & Signs, Inc. will hang from the street banner arms beginning in mid-September through October. The streets will be a blaze of color. For the first time both sides of the banners will be printed with the mumfest logo, in deep rich purple, blue and gold, and the businesses name.

This partnership between Swiss Bear and the Noon Rotary Club provides funds for Rotary’s Community Service projects such as college scholarships for deserving local high school seniors, YMCA, Coastal Women’s Forum, Religious Community Services and many others.

We are pleased and proud of this partnership and applaud the business community for their support of this worthy project.
